I'm quite new to the sport and I was wondering if road stems are reversible? Will there be safety issues? Just Tryin to find ways to unload some strain on my lower back. Thanks!

    :)

reversible as in angled up or down? Yes, absolutely.

I would advise against directing it toward you though. :)

All threadless stems are reversible. That was one of the main features when they came out years back. They were called Flip/Flop stems (get it).

Some models do not look as nice, but they can all be flipped.

You should check with the maufacturer not all ahead stems are suitable for fitting upside down, most are but not all,
