Quoted message said:It was our anniversary last night, and my wife and I, for some reason,
much prefer a home cooked gourmet meal to going out. I haven't had a filet
mignon in a long time, so that was my choice. I pan seared it it
rare/medium rare, piled on some lump crabmeat, and poured a brandy cream
sauce over it. Awesome. My wife (and I, as well), loves breaded fried
oysters. So I made them, too. Also made some seasoned roasted potatoes. It
seemed unlikely to work when we thought about it, but it was pretty
fantastic.
Anybody else want to share an unconventional dinner menu that worked out
really well?
Scott.
Scott,
The beauty of being an ignorant amateur chef is the fact that we haven't
been "told" what goes with what. So we can do whatever we want when it
comes to mixing it up. Experience will teach us that mixing the leftover
sesame chicken with the leftover fried rice and chow mien in the home wok
just does NOT work. It was food. It was edible. But it was like eating
mush with bits of chicken and beef.
However, give me some ground beef, noodles and various spices and my boys
will chow down then complain when it is all gone.
YMMV,
Bret
