The replacement was extremely easy. I went to the Easy Racers factory (about 15 miles from home),
bought an EZ-1 handlebar and adjustable stem for $75 (a Tour Easy handlebar would have been too
short). Gardner Martin was very helpful in providing advice, although very busy on a Saturday
morning. At home I removed the fairing, loosened the brake levers and shifters, removed them from
the old closed loop handlebar, removed the old handlebar and stem, inserted the new stem and
handlebar, slid the brake levers and shifters onto the new handlebar, adjusted the handlebar to fit
my reach, and replaced the fairing. I didn't do anything to the cables, and away I went on the first
ride. Not sure whether to call it an Easy RANcers, or a StrataRacer, but what an incredible
difference!! Now it steers like a real bike!!
Notice that this is a very large Stratus--I had to unscrew the seat mounting bracket, move it
forward, hold it to the frame with hose clamps, and move the seat way forward to reach the pedals.
As a speed enhancement, I have also removed the chain rollers. The chain only hits the frame when I
pedal backward, and I don't do that very often.
