1. I'm in the market for a new commuter, I'd love some suggestions.

Use:
I commute about 40km per day, 4 times a week, on rolling, smooth roads. There is the occasional dirt path and rocky section, there is also a 10% hill that I go up, which rules out fixed gear or single speed. Bottom line is I want a fast, smooth ride.

- No suspension
- Around $USD1000 or $AUD1300
- Flatbar
- No preference in material
- Must be fast, i.e not bulky frame.
- Solid ride, so I feel solid on the rougher sections
- Something different. I want a ride that is
i) different to my road bike (carbon Look KG451), and
ii) isn't the standard Giant CRX commuter (I'm not knocking Giant, I just want something a little different)
- Not a triple (I know this can be switched, but I'd prefer to get something with the standard build)

🙂...I was just looking at the Scott site and their SUB range looks interesting. Coincidence!

It probably leans more toward an MTB than I would ideally like, but it's definitely a consideration.

As another option that I've looked at, here's something a little different...the Jamis Coda. Nice sleek lines...looks fast.
