The article indicates that the high dosage of cocaine was in his system for his final week. The doctor suggests that such a high dosage would preclude such thoughts.

I suppose if someone just piled up a mountain of coke, like the one piled in front of Al Pacino's character's face in the movie "Scarface", and then did it up from a clean state, you might make that assertion. But apparently, it was not a one time event.

Actually, I'm not familiar enough with the drug to know if overdose for the purpose of suicide is possible in the inhaling form. Maybe you would have to inject it. That's an interesting question.
