Suitable bike for LEJOG?

Hello,

I'm new to cycling, though I have (rather foolishly?) signed up for a Lands End to John O Groats trip in spring 2007.

For those unfamiliar with the UK, it's basically a 1000 mile ride.

Problem is I don't know what bike would be ideally suited to this task, although obviously I would like something that will do 80+ miles per day and not leave me in excruciating pain.

The best i've come up with is the Specialized Sequoia Elite, which seems to have the attributes of a 'comfortable' road bike i'm after, but is it reliable enough for a 1000 mile stint?

Please, if there's any other similar bikes I should be considering I would appreciate your advice.

Thanks

I rode LEJOG on a Specialized Allez Sport, so the Sequoia Elite should be absolutely fine.

One word of advice, travel as lightly as possible because the hills in Cornwall/Devon are killers. Once you're past those it gets easier, and you get fitter so when you hit the hills further north they won't be a problem.
