Apon my arrival in Kuwait, I found there to be a great many "bicycle
shaped objects" our troops are riding around on, in truly horrid states
of disrepair. (The bikes are either privately owned and passed down
from one person to another, or just plain abandoned as folks rotate
out, or from the pool MWR of bikes....)
Somehow, probably because of the 29" SingleSpeed w/ disc brakes parked
in front of my tent, I was soon identified as being a person who knew a
little bit about bikes and after word got out, I soon found myself
being overwhelmed with requests: "Can you fix my bike?"
With generous donations from; Park Tools, The Peddler Bike Shop of
Memphis TN, and the Mid-South Trails Association, to get me going in
ernest, I have set up a **FREE** Bicycle safety inspection, adjustment,
and repair service. I volunteer my "off time" 3 days a week, to
perform necessary repairs to make our permanent party and transient
troops' fleet of bicycles at least "safer" to ride.
Through meetings with the Command Cell and with the MWR (Morale Welfare
and Recreation) group here, I now have an air conditioned connex box to
work out of which is a great relief since the temperatures are reaching
+110°F daily.
I am always in need of: brake pabs, cables and housing, tubes, patches,
Dry-Wax type chain lube, etc.
If anybody is of a mind to offer any donations of supplies towards the
project, please contact me directly and I will supply you with my APO
AE address.
If you would rather make a monitary donation you may do so to my
Pay-Pal account.... jgntrmn@gmail.***
PLEASE put "Support out Troops Bikes" in the notes field. All proceeds
will go DIRECTLY towards the support of this project.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
