Suspension upgrades to an old Marin

Just acquired a near mint condition 2001 Alpine Trail FRS with original Shockworks rear and those 'orrible Insync pogos on front. Looking for feedback on what's best to replace these elements with. The rear unit i2i is 180mm which appears to be an oddity.:confused:

Too many choices for the front shocks...........
 
I have used Manitou Black front shocks for two years now and would recomend them,they are reasnably priced,cheaply serviced and parts seem to be readily availible.They also come out,with lugs for V brakes.
