Suunto "Observer" - ok??

Most reviews I read said the compass was difficult to use.
So I decided against.

I saved a lot by buying the hand-held Sunnto Escape-203.
Does all the altimeter/barometer functions I could imagine.
I didn't need a chronometer/stopwatch.

The alarm on the Observer has a reputation for being too
quiet. And there have been some rumours that the altimeter /
barometer on the Observer may be slightly less accurate than
on the Vector and similar models---but I have never seen any
substantiation for this view.

The stopwatch function on the Observer is sophisticated,
with up to 99 split and lap times. The Vector etc lack these
advanced stopwatch functions. The Observer is certainly
elegant. But a consequence of its smaller size is that the
LCD is less clear than the exceptional display on the
Vector. Oddly, although it is smaller, the Observer is
slightly heavier than the other Suunto models mentioned.
