How common is it to swap the insoles when you buy new shoes?

If you did, what did you go with?

Most of what I've seen is slanted at running with way too much padding in the heel of the insole.

The insoles that came with my shoes were junk. I try to find something that fits the shoe and my feet, and has a decent amount of cusioning.

If you really want to go all out you can get a custom footbed made at a downhill ski shop where they make footbeds for ski boots. You can also have orthopedic footbeds made if you have foot positioning problems.
