I'm interested in exploring the Northern Beaches...would love to cycle
from Narrabeen to Palm Beach. Some of this route is steep and windey,
would love to avoid "The Bend" Barrenjoey rd....any information on
alternative / scenic routes or not so steep and dangerous roads would be
great. There doesn't seem to be much information out there on this
beautiful part of the town.

The only alternative to "the bends" is along the western side. Basically
you just follow the shore line from the pub at Newport. However you need
to take your Gregorys with you as there are a couple of places where it wanders
inland. There is one very steep (to me unrideable) section and you should
remember this is the home of the Prozac taking 4 wheel driver. Frankly, I
stick to the main road.<br>
You can avoid some of the Northern part of the bends. Easiest to find going
South, turn off to the Beach at Avalon, follow your nose. You can either
come out on a footpath just before the roundabout or follow the Serpentine
(steep) all the way.<br>

Not familiar with it at all. Try contacting either BNSW, Cycling
Promotion Fund or Audax. Might know a thing or two. Must be a Bicycle
User Group in the area?

They are a Northern Sydney based cycling group that sometimes ride to Palm
Beach.
I haven't ridden with them but their web site is a great read and I am sure
I saw some detailed route directions there for just the ride you want to do.
