Hello Kevinhanley,

I use the Tacx Cosmos for a while now (3 years) and you have to take care of the following :

- The HR belt : First I used a polar which is compatible but you can not change the battery. So I changed for another one which is Polar & Tacx compatible and you can change easily the battery by yourself (CR2032 Battery), I purchased it on the following wedsite : Home - www.sport-tiedje.com - The Fitness Specialists!

(You will notice that when your battery is almost flat, the signal received by the cosmos have some peaks at 180 bpm which a not relevant compare to your workout, or the frequency recorded is half the right one)

- For the tyre : don't use yours, they will be used after only 5 or 6 workout linked to the friction with the motorbrake roll. Purchase the special tyre proposed by Tacx (unfortunately which can not be used on the road). You will reduce the overheating of the tyre and the roll.

(by the way you will likely notice that the roll is very very hot after a 1 hour training at 270 Watt average, so if you use your race tyre the gum will stick on the roll)

- One additional advise : Protect your bike and the cosmos computer from perspiration. The bike with the towel proposed by Tacx (very useful) and the cosmos with a translucide plastic film that you can purchase in any supermarket for the food (else you may have some shortcircuit in the keyboard preventing any further use until you open the unit to clean-up inside). The must is to purchase the ground carpet to protect your floor as well.

I hope this help you !
