Larry, my doctor told me to take my Glucotrol 30 minutes before a meal (I take it before breakfast);
he said it works more efficiently that way. If you take it too long before you eat, you run the risk
of a hypo. Sometimes there can be quite a wait before an appointment if the doc has had an
emergency, so your "1/2 hour before test" might easily stretch into a much longer time. Even if you
go to an independent lab for these tests, you never know when you might run into a delay.

This is how I work it: On days when I'm scheduled for an FBG, I wait until I get back home to take
the Glucotrol so I don't have a hypo while I'm on the road. This way I know for sure it'll only be a
half-hour before I eat.

Karen Type 2 Dx 9/11/02 Glucotrol 10 mg. Glucophage 1000 mg.
