Verbruggen is full of ****. He doesn't enforce the current rules that prevent abuses within the
system and now he wants more rules. I think this is a smoke screen to hide his inability to
sufficiently handle the drug and finances issues.

Additionally, the idiots in this group who claim that some of the D3 teams and riders shouldn't be
pro should move to France and enjoy all the benefits of a socialist system. The system works like
this, the sponsors dictate who is of value, not you tools on the sidelines. If the sponsors find
value in having teams in the big races, even if not

ditch diggers (pack filler) too and the only way some of these riders and teams will get to the next
level is to get thier asses handed to them there first. The McCormack brothers as well as the
current crew of pros in Europe all raced in the early DuPonts with little success, but learned from
those experiences and went rule the sport domesticly in the 90's. Horner and Comptel we're nobodies
until given the chance to perform. And if you look at Panoma this past weekend, you'll see that the
D3 teams are far closer to the top guys than the naysayers here have admitted.

It all sounds like sour grapes from the same lifetime cat 2's who would jump at the same chance if
provided to them.

Hyllus,

You're the one talking out the ass......

The system works like this (not the way you THINK it works): The riders and teams earn points based
on results. The races are sanctioned at different levels (eg: Philly is a 1.2, and Lancaster is a
1.3). Depending on the race level, the teams with the highest rankings are allowed in, starting with
TT1, TT2, etc.

It should not be a case of just because you have a Pro license, you should be in the biggest races.
Only the best riders and teams should be in the biggest events, but in the US this isn't the case.

Also, you think that Pro Cycling is a place for riders to prove themselves? What other business
would hire people to see if they can become "good"? First you are good, then you turn Pro. The cat 2
wannabees all think that the Pro riders and events owe them something and are there to "develop"
them. What a crock! They need to stop whining and start training harder.....

(there are plenty of amateurs in NRC races too, but we'll ignore that)

I'm going to buy my team a pro license next year, it means 50 extra watts and 20 less lbs.

My Favorite Riders (Lemond Fitness) will RULE OVER REDLANDS! JUST YOU WAIT AND SEE!!!!!!!!!

>Horner and Comptel we're nobodies until given the chance to perform.

Horner never rode for Comptel/Wordin, he rode for NutraFig/Wordin. Comptel/Wordin was Klasna,
Elliot, Vaughters.

All the teams there were D3 (or amateur). There were no D2 or D1.

Therefore, the D3 were not "closer to the top", they were the top.
