I'd just like to have your opinion guys.
A climber taking part in a race next in two weeks. That's 70-80 min at > 100% FT (hopefully).
Training regiment have included roughly 30min of L5 per week (one dedicated workout), plus that included in the other rides. A weekly volume spent in L5 was even higher in the 3 weeks preceding the taper.
Taper is 2week long.
I thought of including 1 L5 workout, roughly 20min (4x5) or maybe just 15min, early in the first week. But I thought of cutting this workout in the second taper week.
My thinking is that the fatigue effect of a L5 training in the last week is useless given the nature of the event, and that with the freshness effect, VO2Max power will probably be higher anyway, even without nailing it 5 days before the race.
