TdF winner bikes

When and who was the last one to win the TdF on a metal frame on any or all
stages? Also, how about excepting their TT bike.

That would include steel, titanium and Aluminum. It seems like most have
molded carbon fiber frames.

IIRC, Lance used a rebadged Litespeed Ti TT bike in 99.

Alu = Marco (Very light Bianchi)
Steel = Indurain (Pinarello, Later on the Alu Pinarello Paris)
Titanium=noone?

Pinarello won 7 times in a row (5xIndurain, 1xRiis, 1xUllrich), as did
Trek.

I think are only there two or three riders who won the TdF on Carbon
Fibre:

Lemond (repainted Calfee)
Lance (Trek OCLV)

MAYBE Hinault in 1985 when they rode " Hinault" bikes (No idea wich
brand that really was). I also remember Lemond using a Huffy that year.
But all the pictures I have seen suggest that that was Steel or Alu.

Fignon=Steel
Delgado=Steel and Alu (I think he used a repainted Vitus)
Roche=Steel

Yes but in the 7 seven years HE won carbon has gone from being a niche
market to being the standard amongst higher end bikes. Offhand I can't
think of any non-carbon bikes being ridden this year.

Julich sometimes used an Alu Cervelo

But yeah, can't readily think of any other examples^^ (though I'm sure
there are Alu bikes in the TdF)

Bianchi.

Magnus Backstead's is definitely all aluminium. Don't know about others.

The LiquiGas team is riding Aluminum Bianchis, some with carbon stays, some
without. There's another thread here in this NG about it.

I'm glad I was too cheap to switch from
all-aluminum just in time for it to come back into
style.

What was up with Landis's black shorts today? I guess they decided
green and yellow shorts clash with a yellow jersey? Or were they
special hip support shorts?

Special Mennonite black bike shorts. Floyd isn't the type
to forget his roots.

Colour clashes never seemed to bother Phonak before. Has Floyd hit it off
with a podium girl ?
