So I have just installed the Aztec brand teflon coated cable system on my mountain bike and am thinking about doing the same for the roadie. Does anyone know if the Aztec really offers improved shifting or if they last longer? What I am asking is: Is it even worth the extra bucks?

In my opinion, no, they're not worth the money....I tried them and didn't find them to make shifting easier. In fact, the standard Campy cables were much better in my case.
