[/quote]

Is Telkom your national 'telco'?

Ours is telstra, you can view the ****ers website here http://telstra.com/index.jhtml They are also a bunch of scum bags BTW. ;D

cheers!

Yes, very unfortunately they are. They also have a monopoly in South Africa. This will change in the near future when goverment allow another Telco to operate here. They are also busy with a listing that is why they want us to register for shares. Who want's Telkom shares? They are going to loose business once another Telco is on the scene.

POS companies :)

Well, here are some interesting facts about this Telkom IPO. They are raising all their tarriffs by the maximum allowable under law and why? So that just before their IPO they can show that they are a company which gives good returns (through artificially raised rates!!!!) and thus get their shares out for more!!. Amazing because of course everyone also knows this and will discount it when they go to buy the shares and all that happens is that we then have to pay increased telephone rates!!!

The Telkom debarcle is a crazy idea - they're giving discounted shares to the whiteys and double discounted shares to everyone else. What's going to happen is previously disadvantaged individuals (aka non whites) that are already seriously rich will buy hordes of shares (no limit on how many shares you can buy). They'll then sell said shares at full retail value making the price plummet leaving the previously disadvantaged who actually deserve a little help stranded with shares worth a whole lot less than they paid for them. Bet ya every government employee will have a few thousand shares for at least 24 hours.....

The rich get richer - the poor get poorer and the government doesn't care a hoot cos they are the haves not the have nots....

Telkom must think that the rest of the world are a bunch of idiots too. Goto www.telkomshareoffer.co.za. You cannot enter the site unless you enter a town and it's postal code. It takes a special kind of stupid to think that people won't be able to find out what the postal codes are for major cities in SA. ::)

They also very clearly define a difference between Previously disadvantaged and other. The PD group get the shares at a cheeper price than us. How long still will there a Previously Disadvantaged group. It's nearly 10 years since our first truely democratic election and they still come up with this s^*t. Surely there has to be a point where everyone is equal in this country. This cannot go forever and ever.. Not like I am at all interested to minimum invest R2000.00 . I worked for the JSE before.. been there done that.. There is many of these companies that sell shares at a discount and straight after listing falls below that level.
