  1. C'mon. we all know the feeling!

    was my turn tonight.
disclaimer. Im ridng/commuting on fixed so hairy scenarios are a bit different to me as 'plan B' can be somewhat different 🙄

    Anyways...
riding down William St, Melbourne. Steepish Hill but a clean run.
That is until the Ute that speeds past me decides to turn left into a non-existent driveway and lean foreward in his seat realising there's nohing there to turn into. All in the space of about 10m to me...
I slams on the break (front only).

The brain does that amazing thing where i can compute a seeming zillion things all in a split second (and the ensuing 10 minutes where all kinds of permutations evolve before your consciousnes...).
    "Im going down".
    "[censored]. dont scratch the bike"
    "Pick your spot to impact"
*disclaimer: possibly hindsight - Plan b...
    "Is there another option????????"
"[censored]. dont clamp the brakes on so hard. the rear wheel is lifting..."
"Oooooh. that Ute is a nice shade of Red"

Im not sure how but this time the perpetrator stopped short of pulling into the 'driveway-that-wasnt-there' and left me the kind of gap Robbie Mcewen could dart thru in his sleep!

Always amazes me how wierd these scenarios are and the utterly insane stuff that goes thru your head in pinch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hate short stories, so i prefer ridin...

  2. Ah yes been there, except i was for it
I saw a pretty red bonnet about 10 cm from my right knee and remember
thinking " hey look a red car. [censored] this is gonna hurt" sure enough then
seemed to take forever to roll over the bonnet and hit the ground.

different folks, different spokes; me, if I have no time to think I can do amazing things.
Example, from pure carelessness I realised I was on line to hit the ~2m parrallel railing in the midle of the path. Flicked around the lead upright and had time to think about the far end, which I hit! Thought is the enemy.
