There are any number of sources on training for cycling fitness, and I've been reading them for the last 13 years; but I've not really found a definitive source that lays out race tactics and strategies. Yeah, I've learned a little here and there from racing on my own and with others, but I'd like to have a more authoritative understanding of crit racing, road races etc. Is there a source that deals with this exclusively, or to an in depth degree? I'd like to give my young racing proteges a much better preparation for their races.

A lot of the stuff in this book may be a bit basic, but have you checked out "Racing Tactics for Cyclists" by Thomas Prehn

Coach Carl's e-book
It's called, "A Better Way to Train" by Carl Cantrell
Whole chapter on tactics.

Funny thing about coaching these days. Tactics and technique should be the basics, taught before fitness training, yet racers everywhere always look to coaches and manuals for training programs to make them faster, as though they were training for TT's or triathlons or something completely based on fitness.
