Is the book "The Complete Book of Long Distance Cycling" by Burke and Pavelka (published in 2000) still considered current? I'm reading it with great interest.

Thanks

Bob

A lot of that information hasn't changed only some of the camping gear suggestions may have a little bit and suggested bikes and components have changed but all of that you can figure out on the internet. The advice given though is very sound as is with most books on this sort of subject. I bought this book: http://www.amazon.com/The-Essential-Touring-Cyclist-Complete/dp/0071360190/ref=pd_sim_14_16?ie=UTF8&refRID=1A89T7MMTG9JQ5GZGWKTand even though like the one you mentioned was written in 2000 I still found to be very informative. A lot of these books you can get or order it at your local library so you can read it before you decide to buy as reference.

There is also a wealth of information on the internet like these:

http://www.cyclocamping.com/Tips_Tricks/87-1-cat.aspx
http://outdoors.whatitcosts.com/bike-across-america-pg2.htm
http://www.myra-simon.com/myra/bike/tips.html
And those are just the tip of the iceberg in touring information found on the internet.
