The Thread about Nothing....

Enough of this bike buying advice - anyone would think this was a cycling forum. :p

I too have a question ..... anyone know which band the Foo Fighters are ripping off in the "Long Road to Ruin" clip?
it says here that it's just a generic spoof of 70s hospital soap operas.

The girl in it is from the US version of The Office -- Quincy Jones' daughter

I don't know the band they're ripping off but someone on youtube suggested Grohl, with a moustache, was a ringer for Tommy Seebach, and I laughed when I watched this clip.

It looks like a Benny Hill skit...:p
Dunno about looking like Tommy Seebach, but I reckon Dave Grohl with that moustache looks like he belongs on the set of a bad '70s porno (not that I would know about those ;) :p )

Yeah... I only watched the good 70's porno films like you.... :D

Got cleaned up from behind by a hit and run driver this morning! Riding two abreast in the left lane of a 6 lane divided road. (For Melb crew - it was on Mountain Hwy just after the end of the Bayswater shops heading toward the city.)
Luckily (for him) my bro was riding with me was slightly in front and so got missed.

I had a trip in the ambo to hospital but luckily only received a grazed **** cheek and soft tissue injury to the back. X-rays showed no bone damage. I went over high side and landed on my **** & back I think. Head didn't touch the ground thankfully. Gunna feel it tomorrow though.

My brother & I both got the number plate of the *****, plus quite a few motorists and passers by stopped to assist me and gave their numbers to the cops etc (and some even got the car details too :).) It's nice to confirm that most folks are decent peoples.

Rear Ksyrium is totalled, bike shop checking rest of bike, but on initial inspection frame looks to be okay. They will let me know next week.

Gutless fkker!

Good to hear you are ok, Wil. Bad to hear the ******* didn't have the decency to stop.

It never ceases to amaze me how someone can drive along and be completely oblivious to what is going on in front of them. But then I'm of the opinion that 90% of people on the road should have their licences taken away from them because they cannot drive.

Sorry to hear about your **** cheek Wilchemy. If there's anything I can do . . . nah, forget it.

It always feels a bit like Deliverance when I ride through Bayswater, but it's on the way to the hills. :( I would have been riding with you guys if not for family duties - I guess I should count myself lucky that I had to hang around in a calisthenics class for 5-year-olds (NOTE - calisthenics instructors are in shape and VERY flexible ;) - no more Sat morning rides for me).

That's **** Wil. Glad you're OK... please feel free to post the ********'s details when you get them.
See what happens when you come up here for a ride without letting me know? ;)

Ahh Baysie, I grew up there... home of the Big Moccasin. :)

Its worth the effort to go through with the police, and make sure you sue as well. Sounds like it was a deliberate buzzing attempt.*******!

Wow! When I Googled "inbreeding" and "hillbillies", I found all this stuff about eugenics, which is bascially about the compulsory sterilisation of people thought unfit to breed (the dumb, the deaf, the disabled, some hillbillies :) etc), and the occasional euthanizing of invalids and others thought to be a burden on society

Compulsory sterilisation of 'certain individuals' was law in the U.S., where over 64,000 people were sterilized under eugenic legislation between 1907 and 1963. It apparently only lost momentum around the world when everyone found out what the horrible **** the Nazis were doing with their genetic 'cleansing'

Now give us the whole thing! ;) :)

For some reason the topic of hillbillies got me thinking ..... where is the Central Coast contingent these days?

Yeah!!

On a slightly unrelated note, Googling "inbred", "inbreeding", and "hillbillies" keeps coming up with this photo. What's the deal with it?

I only got the photo when I googled "inbred", I don't get any photos when I google inbreeding and a bunch of completely different photos when I google hillbillies ..... weird

You sure that isn't loading from cache?
