So I finally got on the bike again and felt all proud of myself...
... then I looked at Bernal's stats for the year and thought 'fuck this shit.'

    2019
    Distance 1023km
    Time 30h 56m
    Elev Gain 18,682
    Rides 7

Maybe that's why I ended up being a network engineer and he's probably gonna stomp everyone in the Giro.

    What's new?

And apparently reports of Olivia Newton-Johns’ impending demise have also been somewhat exaggerated

Don’t despair Steve, aspiration pneumonia tends to get most Parkinson’s sufferers eventually.

    Most soon-to-be ex-spouses:

"Hey, can we still be friends after the divorce?"
"No. Get out of my house and out of my life."

    Jeff Bezos:

"Hey, after the divorce, do you wanna get married again and get divorced 25 years later?"
    "Sure!"

How the furk these people find their way in the dunes, when they're the front runner, without a GPS is beyond me.

They have GPS because they have to hit certain waypoints along the route but it is a fairly simple unit and it only activates fully when the competitor is within 800m of the waypoint transmitter.

All well and good if you're on track. The girls and guys on the motorbikes are extraordinary - fanging along at insane speeds AND reading their road books at the same time...

The cars, trucks and buggies have it easy by comparison.

I'm rootin for Al-Attiyah in the cars. How ace does that "Hilux" sound?

Toby Price hasn't started so well... but it's a long race.

Toby Price is currently third overall and he's recovering from a broken wrist so doing pretty well considering. Long way to go yet so he's still in with a chance for the win.

I'm rootin for Al-Attiyah in the cars as well

No, that was after Stage 3. After Stage 4 he is sitting in 3rd (unless the Dakar website is lying to me).

Gotcha... I hadn't seen the Stage Four results. 3rd at 4:22. Nice. But yeah, Tubby Price's mullet is a disgrace.

I'd be happy for him to win but. But most of all... anyone but the Yankee, Brabec. (Hey, we're all allowed one prejudice aren't we? I swear it's only temporary - just for the duration of the race.)

    Go Al-Attiyah. Whoot.

Hey Ma - what are the Side-By-Sides? Are they hotted-up farm buggies or are they from-the-ground-up jobs?

And yeah - go Laia Sainz. There are two women on bikes this year??
