"Luckily the Walker brothers are chasing to get back on and I hitch a ride, they want me to do turns, but I figure they are the A graders and it is their race to loose. The plan works and they get me back on."

Someone from Coburg sitting on and refusing to take a turn? Who'd have thought?! Lucky they've got JayWoo flying the flag for them and putting in more than his share of honest work up the front when required! :D

Channel surfing on Foxtel, and I just spotted this little gem on CI - "I Can't Stop Masturbating" .... WTF?

Does this channel morph into an adult channel after 10:30pm or something?

Well survived the Mont. To say I was underprepared for that would be an understatement. Seemed like the entire thing was uphill. I could only last for a third of a lap before going into limp mode and having the old grannies I passed earlier pass me back. I've also got to buy a dualie for the next one. Track was so tight and bumpy my back was wrecked after two laps. So for the rest of the race I used my legs for either pedalling or shock absorption, with the shock absorption taking precedence. Don't know how the fast guys on hard tails do it actually. They must spend most of the lap out of the saddle???

Worked out the key to a fast lap though. After wrecking myself on my first lap, for my second when I first left transition, a young lady left before me. So I settled in behind her only to find she had the most stupendously beautiful butt I'd ever seen on a bike. Not only that but she did a good pace too. So I just sat in there in a dream admiring the perfection that was in front of me. Sadly after about half a lap her mighty effort to pace me through the forest started taking it's toll on her, so it was time to leave her. It seemed like I had just started the lap I was so fresh so I hammered it to the end, and even after the slow start beat my previous best by a minute. It amazing what an exquisite example of the female form can do to bring out our best. ;)

My best lap was 37:37, 10 minutes slower than the fastest lap. I can see what I'd have to do to find a lot of that time though (apart from having chicks with hot butts strategically placed around the track at all times) so that's a good thing.

So anyway our team came 42 out of 68 in the open male which sucks, but really isn't so bad considering how much we sucked. Started with 6 in our team, ended with 4. The 8ft 6 dude succumbed to his injuries from our previous ride after a 4 laps. Another dude snapped his Learsport in two (down and top tubes clean through) after about 4 laps as well. He got a new rock shox fork from the organisers for his troubles.

Saw a few Thylacines down there as well. Looked very shmick in real life. :)

Bizarrest thing was coming back to camp after my first run after sunup to find one of my mates talking to a dude. Assumed he was a friend of my mate, said gday then went about my business. Came back and joined in the conversation for a while. Probably after about 15 minutes it finally dawned on my that it was actually bbp! Bit slow on the uptake I am at times. So it was good to finally meet one of you guys. Sounds like bbp was a bit of gun on his old vt too. Cleaned up my best time so he's got the bragging rights for the event. ;)

Said yesterday I'd never do it again, but this morning, thinking back to the event while coughing my lungs up, I'm thinking it was pretty cool. Can't wait to do it again next year. ;)

Are you right or left brain dominant?

Check out THIS I can see her spinning anticlockwise, but can change the direction if I stare at it long enough. Then I have to stare at it some more to make it go back to anticlockwise.

Try it, should keep you all amused for oh, at least 15 seconds. :p

Mine spins clockwise. I can't see how it could look like it'd spin the other way???

Look at her foot - tell yourself it's going left, and it does, tell yourself it's going right, and it does.

lol! I can't do it no matter how hard I try! The left hand side of my brain must be dead. Wouldn't surprise me. ;)

Nah, it's got nothing to do with dominant sides actually - it's an optical illusion pure and simple. I can make her spin in either direction by concentrating on her foot, although she tends to start out anticlockwise when I load the page.

Gah, I've given myself a headache trying to make her turn around. Can't get this one going the other way for the life of me.

the Mont.... <snip>
Good fun wasn't it?
Definitely more technical than the Scott, and much less climbing but the climbing there was still managed to hurt you. It definitely rewarded taking the first third nice and easy. After the barren wastelands of Stromlo it took a bit of readjusting to get used to tight singletrack through <gasp> trees! Not a bad track at all, once that nasty wind sprung up on Sunday it was great to actually be riding a lap in the calm shelter of the pine forest. That heavy dew overnight damped down the dust factor nicely too. It didn't ever manage to match the adrenalin rush of the red lap of the Scott though.

Ha! Bragging rights back to you. Your team finished one position ahead of us five, by 1m43s. Damn. Was good to meet ya. We should hook up next time you hit the Blue Mountains for a ride. You've got to post a photo of your mates Learsport, it was a beautiful thing. That fork they gave him must have been worth more than his bike!

I only got invited to join the team on Thursday, and after not being able to sit on a bike for a week after the Scott, the only ride I'd done in the two weeks was to the pub in Newtown last Sunday. :) Perfect preparation, yes? Didn't get down to Majura until two hours after the race had started, so it was pretty much straight onto the bike for my first lap. Ouch. Started out too fast again, getting used to riding my bike again after a few weeks on the mates Rush, getting used to wriggling through the trees, um, there are climbs, and they're right where I'm at my limits, probably spent half of the lap over 190 bpm, 195 max with an average of 179. Crikey. Well I guess that blew out the cobwebs. Got better at pacing myself after that, lap averages eventually came down 20bpm for faster lap times.
Best lap was officially a 36.38, my slowest just under 3mins slower. All 4 of my day laps were within a minute of each other and all 3 night laps within 12s of each other. I'm quite happy with that, although the third night lap was actually a dawn lap and well quicker but I was late to transition by two minutes after being stuck in the shitter queue after my sum total of two hours sleep.
Snuck in a seventh lap at the death and flogged myself, by my HRM did a 35.30 which would have easily been my fastest lap, but the official time reckoned 37.29, which made it my slowest day lap by 20s, which seems a bit odd; but despite knowing I was faster earlier on in the lap I did blow up for the last climb, so maybe they were right and I'd somehow managed to hit the start/pause button on the HRM a couple of times with my glove.

Thylo, caught up with your lads, seemed like good fellas, they did awesome, won singlespeed fours with 44 laps which was 7 laps ahead of 2nd in class and would have put them 11th OVERALL  Brett and Erin's slowest laps were still faster than my fastest and they were doing triple laps at night. There was a big bloke on a nice looking pink Thylacine singlespeed there as well.

All in all, great fun again, my **** is thanking me for using my big cushy Specialised saddle and not a Fizik Aliante, and the rest of the body is much happier than it was two weeks ago. I think I've definitely found a form of racing I'm gonna stick with for a long time.

I raced a few races with Footscray when I was in my late teens. Duh.

Hey Saccy, did you say Hi to any of the Thylo boys? I'm completely flabbergasted at what they pulled off on the weekend - They won the Singlespeed category by 7 laps, and if they were on geared bikes would have also taken out the Male 4 Category by almost 2 laps and finished 7th in the Pro category.

OMGWTF!

more Mont... <snip>

Yeah, now I don't feel the pain anymore it was heaps of fun. It was my first 24 hour race, but it seemed really well run, and it was a great setting. I wish there were more downhills. But with them come uphills and I wasn't fit enough for the ones that were on the Mont already. So I probably should count my blessings. Would have loved the red run at the Scott though by the sounds of it. ;)

And while the team might have won team bragging rights, you definitely won the TAN head to head. 4 laps better than my best is a right ass whoopin. ;)

I'm seriously impressed by your consistency though. I can't imagine on that track how you could get your times so close. You're obviously a strong rider and weren't limited by just being plain ****ed, near as much as I was. ;)

You're right that to do a good lap you had to conserve for the first third. My biggest problem was that the first third was my favourite bit. Probably helped because I was feeling good and not in a world of pain everytime I rode it. I lost all my time basically piddling up the hills so I was in a fit state to enjoy the downhill bits and the places I could get momentum. I was hoping you'd catch me on your second last lap so I could see how you attacked it. Though looking at your times I wouldn't have been with you for long. Maybe TAN pride might have made me hang on. ;)

But yeah, next time a mountains mtb ride is on, I'll definitely drop you a line. Need to watch how you go a bit more so I can form a plan to come back strong for the TAN rematch! ;)

No, **** me off. I only ever saw them when I was going out at Transition. Never really saw them on the track, probably cause they were one of the guys flying past me so fast. And I never found them out in the paddock which is a shame, because I would have loved a better look at your bikes. Not to mention find out of them how they could hammer out such fast times on a hardtail while not feeling like their back was going to collapse. I'm sure being on nice springy steel would have helped heaps though. ;)

Respect for your boys doing so well at the race. Got to be proud of them. You'll have to put together a Thylacine branded team for next year so you can get a bit more exposure out of their great efforts on your top bikes. :)

So you were never going to try and make it up. Would have been much easier spotting a big red headed dude. ;)

[Edit] Oh, btw, I did a few laps with your shirt on for a bit more exposure for you. In hindsight I hope people did confuse the slug in the Thylacine shirt for one of your guys and give them a bad name. ;)

He'd have been the one with the kid hanging off the fake ****, a la meet the fockers, in the paddock ;) :D

Cheers man.
Yeah, I wanted to ease them into the 24hr races and singlespeeding with their mates seemed like a good way to go in with no pressure.

But now that we know they probably would've been in the top six in the Elite class (on bikes with actual gears), it's time to take this up a notch I reckon.

They're not even tired today the frikken freaks!

Have they been racing all year on single speeds? Or have they got a shed full of Thylacines to choose from? ;)

But yeah another year on another year stronger. They'll be a handful on geared bikes next year for sure. Hope you can afford to keep them. ;)
