Well i went to my LBS, its beens 2 weeks since ive had my new road bike. I asked them when i should lube and clean my bike, they told me not to worry about it for another month. I think they are thinking im not riding that much, soo far ive put in about 260 miles in 2 weeks of riding! I found 2 tutorials and was wondering if some 1 could skim over them real fast and tell me if thats how to do it.

Listen to your LBS. Let everything mesh together before you go lubing the hell out of it. 130mi/wk isn't a lot, so wait a few weeks. A solid month of hard riding is good for the break-in period (both yours and the bikes).

I wouldn't wait to clean something that's dirty and that includes the chain. If you go out in the wet and get mud on it (or any other moving parts) you should clean and re-lube before your next ride.

I live in a area that used to be desert (central valley california), but thanks to irrigation it is farmland and a trail that goes along a river. I SHOULD RESTATATE MY QUESTION to what pod is saying. How would u guys suggest i clean my derailler, if you want a picture i can snap one and you can suggest what to do, or u can just tell me =) thanks
