Hey nice progress, looks like you also enjoyed Christmas and new years :D

I'm afraid to weigh myself after the last few weeks binge. Congrats to all those who are losing weight. As can be seen in the 'Killing me" thread, I shall be back in training today. Am going to wait one week before checking and posting my weight. Keep up the good work guys. Tyson;)

I'm guessing the weather isn't very good at the moment Tyson?

I did 3.5 hours today 101km, I think it'd be my longest ride since I got hit by a psycho driver a few years ago. Saw lots of nice chicks in bikinis at Torquay, well worth going the long way

Weight: 108KG

I'm still big boned :D

Next time you cycle through Torquay, say Hi! to my ex-wife for me.:D

Well it's slow but I guess that is the best way!
Dec 27th 163lbs
Jan 15th 168lbs
Jan 27th 165.5lbs
Feb 5th 164lbs

I've started some intensity training now so that usually results in a little more rapid weight loss...

Feb 10th 161 lbs, big jump this week!

Dec 12, 2009 -163 lbs. Then the holidays, vacation, off the bike for a month, argh.
Jan 12, 2010 -167 lbs. Back on the trainer for structured intervals.
Feb 10, 2010- 166lbs. Now riding 4-5days a week. Just can't stay away from the calories. Need more discipline to reach my goal of 155 by June.

A thread for me - that's for sure...

Re-dedicated myself to weight loss this week - a month before the start of road racing season up here...better late than never, I suppose...
For me, this means I am writing down EVERYTHING I eat and the corresponding calories. I MUST keep a balance sheet of intake and expenditure - just not disciplined enough to do it any other way.
After cycling, I'll subtract the burned kj/calories via the powertap.
Down a legitimate (not water weight) pound after 3 days. Still 196lbs/89kgs!

The goal is to vaporize 1lb./week until I get to 185. Want to be there by June.

Discipline. Dedication. Committment. Sincerity. Honesty = components of weight loss. Best wishes to you all! Luck has nothing to do with weight loss...

Well, I made the new years resolution to do it and bought the indoor trainer to prepare for riding season, so I guess I should make it official and put it here.

Currently I am;

Height: 5' 10" (178 cm)
Weight: 168 lbs (76.2 kg)

I will loose 18lbs by the end of June when I weigh in for my first tri. The hills and mountains near Charlotte will fear the renewed climber in me. Look out!

Oh, and my wife might enjoy me doing a little more climbing too!! :D

Im in on the weight loss.this am was 181lbs. will be 165lbs by mid March. I am going on a (for me) serious bike trip to the Pyrenees in early June. 500miles and approx 70K feet of climbing in 6 days of riding. I figuire I'll leave the fat at home.

Raid Pyrenean or the similar ride that Marmot Tours is putting on that takes in the 4 stages of the Tour?

Unless you're a good recreational climber - ie at 181lbs you can put out 275 watts for a significant period of time then you should gear down significantly. A triple may be advised or a 33 inner compact (TA makes them) and an IRD 9 or 10 speed cassette with a 32 tooth bottom. An XTR long cage rear mech works as well as Dura Ace when pair with Dura Ace shifters - so expect performance with XT to be at least as good as Ultegra and 105. I know it works - I used it last year in this event.

If you are doing that 6 day ride that takes in the 4 stages of the Tour then you'll be hitting the Col de Marie Blanc which has 4 or 5km of 10 to 12% (or 1in8 in English money) at the top - that'll knock the snot out of the best of legs. Add to that the 'sticky' road surface, the heat and the flies and you have a triple helping of fun on a stick and you still have the Soulor and the Tourmalet which has a fair few nasty sections in it and climbs for what seems like 95 miles...

70K feet of climbing in 500 miles is serious climbing for anyone.

Good luck.

I weighed myself at the gym a couple days ago - 154 (cringes). I am planning on knocking out some of that buldge this spring/summer/fall! Hopefully by fall I'll be in the 130's.

So after one week I'm going in the opposite direction... Gained 2lbs (~1kg) Hahaha. Guess not only do I have to eat healthier I need to eat less . Maybe the real weight loss will start when I can ride more than an hour on a trainer a couple days a week.

always the hardest part of the weight loss equation/ledger...keep your focus on your goal/commitment...not easy, but something worthwhile hardly ever is..

This thread promotes completely wrong concept of fitness.
You need positive approach if you want to achieve desired height-weight ratio. Instead of loosing - which is negative, concentrate on gaining - positive.
Your efforts should be directed on gaining some height.

LOL Andrija. I think most of us have stopped growing, so let's forget about the gaining height thing. Unless of course we are allowed to wear platform cycling shoes!;)
As for your comment about weight, by your criterion I am a raging success, putting on weight at roughly a kilogram a week. If I can get back up to 84K as I was at the start of the 'Killing me' thread, perhaps I shall have a chance of getting into a TDF team this year. Btw, I don't need to concentrate to put on weight, unless concentrating on the female customers in Mister Donuts qualifies as concentrating. :D

What if we ate enough to gain weight while we were training hard, and at LEAST enough to support the body's recovery between workouts?

The height gain is a valid point. I know people that gain height by taking viagra. Although temporary it does work for some people.

Height gain can easily be had in adults, so long as their insurance covers it or their bank account has sufficient funds. It's not necessarily fun--after all it does require having fracture sites re-broken every 6 weeks, 2 months or summat--but it is effective. It's not really a DIY project.

I could always stick my self on the torture rack and crank up the tension but I think I stopped growning vertically about 20 years ago...

For a positive way of thinking, do what Colin Chapman the founder and brains behind Lotus Cars always did. Add lightness.
