The weight loss challenge

I'm trying to ride enough to lose 10 pounds, so far I've shaved off 3 by switching over to Vita Coco from Gatorade.

April 5, 2010 - 165.1 lbs
April 26, 2010 - 164 lbs
May 10, 2010 - 162.3 lbs
May 24, 2010 - 159.3 lbs.
June 14, 2010-160.0 lbs
Down to 158.0 lbs this week. Slow but steady.

After a couple of weird weight weeks, going from 173lb mid June to 164lb and back up fluctuating between 172 and 168, I'm finally at a constant 168... First time under 170 in about 13 years.

... just remind me next time that if I barf in a very long and challenging ride that I should quit.

May 6: 174 lbs (78.9 kg)
May 19: 170.5 lbs (77.3 kg)
June 2: 167.0 lbs (75.7 kg)
June 19: 164.1 lbs (74.4 kg)
July 7: 160.1 lbs (72.6 kg)
Goal: 155 lbs (68 kg)

allowing for water weight 174 + or - 1 to 160 + or - 1 = between 16 and 12 lbs in 9 weeks. Between 1.8 and 1.3 lbs/week

Good job guys. Looks like most are well on their way to their target weights.

I've hit a barrier at 165-167lbs. Since my porky weight of 189 back in march.

Think I'll have to start watching my diet now. To lose the next 5lbs I'm targetting.

Keep it up guys.

Well after six years off of my bike I hit 181lbs (up from 150). So in May I started to ride. I just hit 171 this week.

I hope to get back to about 157 by the end of September.

Good luck to all of you.

Getting closer: July 19, 2010 - 155.8lbs.

I don't think I want to lose any weight at this point so I was thinking maybe I could turn some of you guys onto what I eat to maintain my weight.

My diet is pretty simple the first staple of my diet is steamed veggies with protein and sometimes corn meal or chips which I eat three times a day and the other staple is quinoa bread and quinoa porridge which tasted like nutty oatmeal. In between my meals I drink almond milk and hazlenut milk to get the essential fats my body needs otherwise on such a low fat diet i get constipated with out all the good fats from almond and hazlenut milk

Some guys have made great progress in shedding the flab, others are conspicuous in their absence.

Now I'm unable to do the Mt. Charleston Hill Climb in September, I can reveal my weight. Had a slight lapse of concentration when I discovered I was unlikely to be going to Las Vegas; I should be hovering around the 67kg mark, however, I'm just above 68kg but will be under 67kg by the middle of September. That is a far cry from the 76kg + not that many months ago.

66kg is the target for the Lake Biwa ride in October. Anything under that, I think would make me appear anorexic!:D

May 2008: 318lbs

May 2010: 255lbs

May 2010: Bought bike

Aug 11, 2010: 229lbs (lowest weight in over thirty years)

Target is to be under 200lbs. (It has been over forty years since
I weighed 200lbs or less)

When I went in the army in 1964 I was 6' tall and weighed 135lbs.
They said I had to gain thirty pounds in nine weeks or get out of the
army. I made it, barely.

Nice going Tyson! I suppose I should admit that I've failed miserably in the losing weight department. I've been hovering around 82kgs for the last month. I'm very fit, but alas can't seem to lose a few pounds.

April 5, 2010 - 165.1 lbs
May 24, 2010 - 159.3 lbs.
June 14, 2010-160.0 lbs
July 19, 2010 - 155.8lbs
Aug 23, 2010 - 154.5 lbs

Small steps seem to work, getting me closer to 150lbs. I'm sure glad I've lost as much since Pike's Peak Climb is less than a week away.
