  1. ....last night had an article on cycling as an alternative to driving, for
    Car-Free Day. The reporter went on a cycle training course (his emergency
    stop sounded like it hurt!) and then used a bike to get between the
    appointments he had that day in central London. The cycle trainer
    suggested than money would be better spent on training rather than
    'facilities'. He then talked to South West trains about bikes on
    trains---who passed the buck. He hired an Oy Bike, and talked to the Oy
    Bike people. Finally he talked to some commuters who had never heard of
    Car-Free Day. Despite all being in cars they all claimed they walked a
    lot. At the end of the piece he seemed to suggest he himself was a convert
    to cycling.
