Type 1 diabetes: pancreas produces no insulin at all. Is often the result of an immune system response against the pancreas, which kills the insulin producing beta cells. Can also result from pancreatic cancer.

Type 2 diabetes: body has a resistance to insulin, decreasing the efficacy of the insulin. Can result from several poor health choices as well as other things.

Both types can also be passed on genetically.

Yes, people are ******* up their pancreas. Children being born with no insulin. This is caused by earlier generatiosns consuming too much sugar. I had a Great Grandmother die from that. But I believe a lot of it is people having the same lifestyles. I know an insurance agent who didn't get much exercise he had a stroke at 42. His son didn't get much exercise kind of had the doughboy look.

Wrong. Some Type II diabetics can be managed with diet and exercise alone, but that does not equal a cure. Type I cannot be cured with diet and exercise as Type I diabetes means there is no production of insulin by the pancreas. Without insulin, no sugars are transported into the body's cells, and no energy is produced. Death follows in short order.

Gestational diabetes is almost always transient.

The ONLY cure(s) for Type I diabetes is either a pancreas transplant or Islet cell transplant.

The truth is, pharma has monetary intentions for EVERY drug out there and don't be fooled by anything else. Scientific American magazine did have an article a few years ago stating that it was starting to look like people weren't getting enough vitamin D. That's certainly not a publication dedicated to touting the benefits of seaweed capsules.

Health & wellness is such a complicated topic that it is hard to say that one thing is better over another. However, I believe that since the onset of the internet and other means that have driven people to be more steadfast in taking care of their health and dig deeper for more answers to health issues, many more liberal sources are turning to conservative perspectives, even if it's just to please the common consumer. Not that the mentioned mag is categorized in that manner, but many are finally giving in (to a point) that the ideals that some have held for years and considered quackiness are actually true and deserve attention and studying. That is a GOOD thing. Many health issues are not "issues" at all if people would just eat right and exercise.

If you research vit D you'll find how it runs a TON of functions of your body and how optimum levels fight off sickness & disease.

Should you get your levels tested (I did & will again), keep in mind that "good enough" levels are not the same as "optimum" levels. Also, labcorp has FAR more advanced testing than quest diag, so do NOT use quest because your level could be higher/lower than their result because they have unreliable processes.
