Bacon contains Omega 3 Fatty Acids just like fish. It reduces cholesterol and improves heart health. It's a misconception that bacon causes heart disease, instead it has a positive effect on the heart and body.

Bacon has less fat and cholesterol than most cuts of beef and chicken. And it has the highest Protein to fat content of any meat, which makes it a great option for people who opts for a high protein diet, it can also be taken after exercise or rigorous training.

On the contrary, bacon is pork so it has the ingredients for high cholesterol level. However, if the bacon is fried to crisp then the fats may have been removed already. That's why we never eat half-cooked bacon. When it is not crispy then that means the undesirable fats are still there. Eaten with fried over easy egg, that's one of our favorite breakfast. However we seldom have bacon on the table now because it is expensive.

While this may be true, the problem with most of the bacon available commercially is that it has been also treated with a lot of chemicals that can be harmful in the long run, and especially when you eat a lot of bacon. It may lead to a lot of diseases, even cancer, so it's always best to take everything in moderation and prepare your own bacon.

There are too many variables to include before you can really start calling bacon a health food. But with all due respect, nothing about bacon is convincing enough for me to start eating it as part of a healthy diet. If you like bacon, go ahead and consume it in moderation, but let me just show you something that might make you see there are healthier options.

A 100g serving of baked bacon has 548 calories, 36g of protein, and over 70% of your RDA for saturated fats. This is a massive amount of calories and unhealthy fats, and not to mention over 91% of your RDA for sodium.

On the other hand, 100g of roasted chicken breast contains 197 calories, 30g of protein, only 11% of your RDA for saturated fats, and just 2% of your RDA for sodium. So for 6 less grams of protein, you're consuming 351 less calories, 59% less unhealthy fat, and a massive 89% less sodium.

It can have all the Omega-3 in the world, but I'm still going to stick to healthy meats like fish and chicken. Bacon is delicious though, and it isn't bad as an occasional snack, but I wouldn't make a habit out of eating it too often.

All I know is that bacon contains a lot of sodium, nitrates, and fatty acids. That's why nutritional specialists recommend to buy organic bacon instead of regular, and cook it in the oven until it is crispy. Also, we are not supposed to eat more than 2 strips a day. I've seen some places offer turkey bacon instead of porky one. Does anyone know if it's much better?

I don't usually eat bacon and honestly, first time to hear or read about the benefits of bacon, because as far as I concern even the nutritionist don't advice the bacon for protein. But well, nothing will happen if we should eat bacon moderately.
