As far as the economy here, it has slowed a bit but only about 10% which is manageable.

The incumbent is elected in November but cannot take control until mid-January.
So you have a situation where the office holder plays out a lameduck role for
3 months, while the real political and economic focus shifts towards the elected successor.
In good US political times and good US economic times, this existing arrangement is barely tolerable at best.
Given the current dire US political situation and the US basketcase economic situation, this political arrangement seems to be in the
second worst possible situation.
The incumbent is elected in November but cannot take control until mid-January.
So you have a situation where the office holder plays out a lameduck role for
3 months, while the real political and economic focus shifts towards the elected successor.
In good US political times and good US economic times, this existing arrangement is barely tolerable at best.
Given the current dire US political situation and the US basketcase economic situation, this political arrangement seems to be in the
