Threaded fork, threadless headset?

Okay I’ve got a threaded carbon fork that I could put on my wife’s bike. The problem is, her headset is threadless and if I put the fork on the stem would clamp on to half nonthreaded steer tube and half threaded steer tube. Will this work?

Yeah, if the stem clamps that much unthreaded steerer,it's ok.

Gotta change the HS to threaded.That could involve the need for more threads on the steerer or some other creative solutions.
