  1. i am a student - triathlete. i am a good swimmer and right now am injured with haglunds deformity due to bad shoes when running. so instead of be a wimp and get depressed i am going to really get my biking going to beat people in this stage. i am working for long course here so were talking hlf-full ironman workups.

what kinds of miles and saddle time should i really be putting in, in order to get the most of my day to day woprkouts. i dont start class till about 11 and i live in socal so i can ride all day if i really want to, but i dont want to overtrain. any insight on to maximizing my potential here?

  2. Triathlon riding is a totally different animal than road racing. You really don't need to work on acceleration or handling. What you need is good, consistent power output, a strong aero position, some climbing skill and flawless pedalling technique.

You should really investigate Friel's Training Bible for Triathletes.
