Timex Bodylink sensors and bike mount

Hi,

Does anybody have experience with the proper working of the sensors
when mounting a timex Bodylink to a bicycle handlebar?
In my experience when the distance between the Timex and its heart rate
monitor or its GPS unit is slightly more than 55cm (about 22 inches)the
connection is lost. According to Timex' documentation, this should be
about 1m or 40 inches. Anybody any idea?
