Few things are as annoying as squeaking shoes or pedals. Two things worked for me. Both are temporary, but effective.
1) Clean the contact surfaces. Apply just a touch of anti-seize lubricant on the mating surface between the cleat and pedal. It lasted for about 200 miles. Be very careful. This stuff is almost impossible to wash out of your clothes.
2) Clean the mating surfaces and apply a dab of lip balm to the pedal contact surface. This is much less messy and a small tube of lip balm will fit in your flat pack or jersey pocket. When the squeak returns, pull over and reapply to the pedal. You're good for another 200+ miles of quiet riding.
