Tips to lose weight without dieting

Losing weight without actually dieting isn't rocket science. Using more calories than what you eat, a balanced variety of foods, eating small but regularly and exercise are the key things when it comes to losing weight and keeping it off.

With these fad diets, as soon as you stop, you pile the weight all back on again, so they might work in the short term but are just a scam in the end.
A company Dr.told me the only diet that works is : eat less than you are used to eating, and exercise twice as much...

The only thing you have to do is burn more calories then you take in and you should start loosing weight. Too keep weight off the ideal is to burn off fat slowly.

Reductive and unhealthy advice.

I agree with the sentiment behind it (I think) if that advice did come from a doctor I'd be a little worried about his credentials because like you say, it's not exactly the soundest advice to give somebody without going into more detail.

Eating less and exercising more will lose a person weight, but not in the healthy way they'd be looking for.

Exactly. Nothing works faster in the beginning than a fad diet, but they almost always seem to fail after a few weeks. Whether the problem is will power or lack of interest, or whatever... the fads fade rather quickly. The pounds just pile back on again, usually even faster and the old fat calls in its relatives to come join them and you end up heavier than you were before. I've heard it suggested that eating many small meals a day is better for losing weight than eating the traditional three meals a day. Whether this is documented or not is unknown to me, but it seems to make sense as we often snack between meals anyway. Why not make those snacks into a healthy, small meal instead?

Some (obese) people are leptin resistant and have high reverse T3. They simply cannot burn fat. Fixing your biochemistry is the hack needed.

There was more to it that just that, but his point was you can't eat like a hog and sit on your can and lose weight, He also advised eating healthy foods and avoiding junkfood and fats, among other things.

Doctors get 2-4 hours of nutritional training in Med School.

I never listen to them for advice on what to eat or how to train. They generally know very little about nutrition or good health. They know how to name a supposed disease and write scripts.

I don't think that people even need to take advice on what they should and shouldn't eat, and what's good and isn't off doctors anyway, as there's enough information out there off genuine nutritionists and other experts when it comes to that sort of thing.

Here in the UK, to get referred to see a specialist face to face you have to go to your local doctor first, but that should really be the start and the end of their involvement.

Eat less calories, use more calories. It's just that simple. If you don't want to change your diet you need to exercise enough to burn off the extra calories.

My main concern was that he ignored the fact that the calories need to be from healthy sources and the amount that calories should be reduced will vary by person, their activity levels, and health needs. Simply telling people to exercise and reduce calories isn't going to work long term without creating other issues.

As I said, he did talk about healthy eating . My original post was not very detailed.

Try going for walks and just eating healthier in general. Like a lifestyle change.
That is really generic and oversimplified. There isn't a one or two line one size fits all answer. You can't just answer with "lifestyle change" without knowing what a persons lifestyle is to begin with.

The tips all sound pretty good. I think the best thing you can do to lose weight without dieting is to simply stay active. And I mean very active. Besides that, even if you are not dieting I think it is very important to eat healthy.

Eating healthy & activity together are the key. One won't regulate weight without the other.

Among all these tips, the exercise is the most important one. The benefits of exercise are already scientifically proved. It helps you to loose weight along with many other benefits. Personally, I exercise daily for 40 minutes. I follow this routine strictly. It has helped me to lose weight. This year, I already lost 30lbs through exercises and with the combination of many more healthy lifestyle.

Also, just make easy substitutions. You can easily replace butter with olive or coconut oil. And switch to more whole grains instead of just typical white bread. At the end of the day though, if you are over eating, you will have trouble losing weight. You aren't and Olympic swimmer like Michael Phelps, so you can't eat like him. It's just the way it is.
