If anyone can help I would appreciate!!

I have a Cannondale with Conti 700x23c tires that need to be replaced. This is the first time that I have needed to do this so I bought a pair of Hutchinson 700x23 folded tires.

    My questions are:

    Does folded mean anything?

Does the c in 23c mean anything?

Or are these universal as long as I have the size right?

    Thanks to all that reply!!!

Folded means they have a kevlar bead, instead of wire. 23 is the relative width.A 20 would be narrower,a 25 usually wider, but it ain't an absolute standard and there are variations between makes. They fit.

The "c" is for centimeters - 23 cm is the diameter of the tire, from sidewall to sidewall.

The "c" doesn't really mean anything anymore. It used to be used to determine tire width (a, b, c, d). Check out "French sizes" about halfway down the page

    Dang!

I guess I should either just shut my yap, or at least look a little closer at the measuring tape next time; the 23 reading was actually in millimeters!

Dorian, thanks for setting me and the record straight.
