  1. My first road bike now has 1800 miles on the tires and I wonder if it's smart to shop for tire deals before I need to replace one and cannot wait or look for a deal?

  2. You sorta answered your own question in the positive. Check out the online sites (Nashbar, Performance, SuperGo, JensonUSA) for some deals (awesome prices on closeouts). I ride Michelin Pro Race mainly because that's what I cut my racing teeth on. Plus tires are relatively cheap in terms of duration per dollar.

  3. Or, you could just buy from your LBS when you need them. I've gotten Pro Race and Conti 3000's at LBS's for just a couple of bucks more than the online guys, and like to keep them in business too...as long as the price diff isn't too great!! You can hunt for bargains, but seems these top line tires don't go on sale very often....they stay in demand.

Anyway, agree with Capwater that good tires are worth getting.

  4. Thanks for the response I appreciate the help.
