"We have decided to take the same team as last year," explained Jean-René
Bernaudeau. "They are nine very self-confident fighters; everyone knows
what he has to do. We will not aim at the General Classification, as all
nine riders are equal in their capacity to join breakaways and to give us
a chance to win on every stage. I expect my riders to be very cunning.
They can win on every ground."

They will do great, with news breaking every day, by Saturday, the
peleton will be back to one speed.

No, the UCI is mandating that they all ride high-wheelers.

I thought the whole problem was high wheelers.

Curtis L. Russell
Odenton, MD (USA)
Just someone on two wheels...

Stage 2
1 Tom Boonen (Bel) Quick.Step
Stage 3
1 Tom Boonen (Bel) Quick.Step

I guess if you score early the team can spend the rest of the Tour
yakking on their cellphones in the grupetto.

Top stage placing by Brioches la Boulangère riders, 2004 TdF?

Let's face it, they're still mostly those same riders. They could do it
then, they can do it again. As Bernaudeau says, his team is strong on
breakaway specialists - Voeckler, Chavanel, Bochard. Breakaways are a
high risk, high reward strategy. You're pretty much certain to get
hunted down, but if you don't you've a good chance at a stage win and a
fair chance of taking big lumps of time out of the peloton.
