Top Speed Down Hill's

U/17 gearing cept 12t unlocked for fun (42:12)

downhill: 83.8km/h slingshot drafting in a race (wasn't a big race, otherwise I probably would have been pedalling) past a climber who was nice enough to attack and drag me up the hill.

Flat: 72km/h sprint, granted it was behind a truck, but I couldn't have spun any more on that one.

Flat: non-aided sprint, in a cross/tail wind at the end of a crit, 62km/h. That was fun. I love crits in my club cause my rivals are time triallists and climbers so if I stick with them in a road race I stand a chance.

Favourite: ~50km/h up a 4% grade for 300m every Sunday morning (speed changes due to conditions). On that particular road that is faster than the legal speed limit so I have lost count of the risky maneuvers around p***ed off drivers I have pulled to get up the hill. Not recommended but bloody fun.

I can hit 40 on two different hills, not even a mile long. One is about 200 meters, the other maybe 500. Proably could've gone faster if I was running a lower gear, like an 11. REMINDER!!!!! DESCEND WITH KNEES TOUCHING TOP TUBE, PREVENTS WOBBLE AT HIGH SPEEDS.

43.7 mph on a steep hill we use for the State RR in FL...that was in juinor gears (53:15) so I could've gone faster with my 12 cog :D !

Highest speed down hill 75km/h (mount lofty descent 20ks in 20 mins)

Highest flat speed 55km/h sprinting (no drafting here)

Adelaide is good. You have the hills just outside the city for climnbing and descents and the flats are good for sprinting.

I have done 89Km/h (55mph) behind a bus if that counts. It was going slightly downhill !

55mph (coasting because i dont have gears big enough on my bike to pedal)

No it doesn't. That's an old wives tale and one of the many "cycling myths" that perpetuate to this day... The only reason to bring in the knees is for aerodynamic reasons. Next you'll be telling me that bringing in the knees closer to the top tube will allow me to pedal with more power. :p

Top speed - 71mph, descending the east side of Mt Tiede - the big volcano in Tenerife. As$ off the back of the saddle, hands in the center of the bars and head tucked down as low as I could get while still just managing to look up. No helmet, as this was back in the day when helmets were things that only worried comuters wore. There was a storm just off the west of the island which gave a really nice tail wind - normally the winds blow from east to west but I got lucky, although it made the long climb from the coast seem fecking hard. The roads are long, wide and straight enough to not hit the brakes for miles. About a 1/3 way down the descent the grade gets pretty steep too. The computer used (Cateye) was well setup as it actually read within .01 mile during most 50 mile TT's.

Within the last decade it'd be 62mph descending Monitor Pass in the Sierra Nevadas, heading towards Topaz.

45mph in a 30 zone, the police stopped me and asked me to slow down lol, was so funny overtaking all the cars.

i was on a hill that was about a quarter mile long, with a 40 mph speed limit. if i follow the rule of thumb that since i live in new jersey the average car goes 10 over the speed limit and i was able to follow the car. id say 45-50 range. on a **** mountain bike standing up

Over 60mph back in 1986 on the Blue Ridge Parkway near the turnoff to Mount Mitchell on a brand new Centurion Ironman Expert. The reason that I don't know the exact speed is that the old Vetta bicycle computer would not register anything over 60. I was scared to death too, but even more afraid to hit the brakes at that speed. The momentum carried me halfway up the next hill though, so it was a good thing in the end.

The fastest speed that I was ever "recorded" doing was 134 mph on the flat, right past an electrical substation. It made my average speed for that ride look spectacular, especially since I did not break 25 mph the entire ride. I have ridden past the same substation on the same bike since then but my abilities have not been similarly enhanced:eek:.

Fastest measured was about 54 downhill on aptly-named Mountain Road. Problem is, there's an intersection at the bottom with a stoplight that favors the speeding cross traffic (State Hwy), so it's necessary to brake hard at the bottom; as a result, I have to initiate braking before reaching terminal velocity, lest I become someone's hood ornament.

31.7 mph lol. Man, i'm seeing these 50's and stuff...

Wish I had better hills here... maybe even a nicer bike haha:p

I reached 35 mph on the way back from a camping trip. I "could" have gone faster, but I wasn't used to the weight on the back and sides yet, I didn't want to risk becoming part of the hill.

This is what the scammers expect, the check will NY Escort only bounce about 3 weeks to a month later at which point your bank will take back the money leaving you short of the shipping money. The best way of avoiding this fraud is not to sell your vehicle to someone who wants to pay the shipper.I NY Escorts hope all this hasn't scared you away from the Internet, If you are sensible and wary about offers that seem too good to be true then you should be Ok, just NY Asian Escorts apply the same commonsense you use in everyday life, after all if a stranger walked up to you in the street and said "Hi I am from your bank what's NY Asian Escort your credit card number and PIN"

80k with a bike computer-- on a fully loaded tour down the =west coast, somewhere in California I think, long downhill with a tailwind, very stable and with tailwind was very uneventful and quiet.

a few years earlier, before i had a speedo, I am certain I went faster on another loaded trip around the Gaspe penninsula--prob 90k or more, as my legs were shaking at the bottom from the experience--I had raced motorcycles circuit racing so was used to speed, but that descent gave me the shakies....

hit 70k on the new cross bike last week down the steepest hill here in Montreal, on Mont Royal.
50x11 means I can spin up to about that, my touring bike 50x13 would run out of gears at about 55k.
