Sorry you had a bad week. I got a butt load of Xmas ornaments from work at
95% off. Yep, they were reduced to 65% off and along with my 30% employee
discount I cleaned up. Great ornaments too. Most of them retail for $50
to $75. The hand painted St. Nicholas ornaments from Russia are my
favorites. I can't believe how expensive some of the ornaments are. People
actually pay $75 for these ornaments. The brands are Waterford, Reed &
Barton, Radko and Raz. My tree next year will be extraordinary.

Sorry to hear about your week. Hope next week is much better for you!!

I actually had an awesome week. This past week we found out that 1) we're
going to be moving to the Baltimore area in 3-4 months (hubby was promoted
and will be covering the region between Baltimore and Atlanta, so we had a
choice as to where we could live; since my family all lives within 4-5 hours
of Baltimore, and we like the area, that was our choice), and 2) I'm
pregnant! :) We're pretty excited about both pieces of news.

Ok, now, this won't exactly sound like good news at first, but trust me, it
is. My brother's heart surgery was confirmed (finally) for the 14th!
You see, his cardiologist was very specific about the surgeon he wanted to
perform the procedure, and this surgeon is at the Mayo Clinic. Everything
had been set in motion, with the surgery theater being booked, the
anesthesiologist scheduled, nurses scheduled, etc...and then his insurance
calls out of the blue and says they no longer have a contract with Mayo, and
the surgery can't be performed there. I'll tell you, the last thing someone
with a bum ticker needs is a stressful battle with an HMO.
Luckily, his cardiologist wasn't a wallflower. He called the director of the
HMO, and the surgery is back on track.

Sounds good. Fridays are usually hectic so we often have take-out -
tonight was Chinese. Yum.

I just took early retirement and played golf yesterday for the first
time in 4 1/2 years. Stunk up the golf course, but it was a blast. I
now also have time to work on embellishing my cooking skills, doing
some volunteer work for the Public Law Center and catching up on my
reading. Life is sweet.

Congrats. I pulled the plug on August 19 and haven't regretted it for

HOORAY!
I'm totally in a baby mood lately, I've been crocheting baby things for my
friends who are all getting pregnant. It's the second wave of babies in my
friends.

I got the most awesome news in the world today! My retina is still
healed and no longer bleeding!

A year ago last October, I suddenly lost much of my eyesight in my
left eye due to rare a condition called idiopathic choroidal
neovascularization . A rogue blood vessel had grown under my retina,
and began to leak. The leakage caused the retina to pull away from
the back of the eye causing visual distortion and a huge blind spot.
I was completely, totally caught off-guard and extremely frightened - I
thought I was losing all my eyesight in that eye. I was driving down
the road and suddently I couldn't see anything clearly with my left
eye.

Short story long, after two surgeries/treatments (experimental for my
age group), the last of which was April 2005, the leakage stopped.
Today was may last check-up with the retinal specialist - I have now
been "downgraded" back to my regular opthamologist.

I am a *very* happy person today! :)))))

You little ****! I didn't know you were actively TTC! Awesome! I
will be sending you sticky vibes and poking in a.i.pg every now and
then to see how you are! That's just beyond good news!

I am bummed that you will not move to the PNW, though. I was hoping to
see you in Seattle. :( Have fun in Baltimore - I love the whole DC
area and there is so much to do. You will love it!

I am sure you are! Can sorta understand how you feel. I have
keratoconus - the left is much. much worse than the right - have tried
all sorts of contact lenses - hard ones, soft ones - but it is so
difficult to get something that helps me see normally. Every time I go
for an eye test they try something else...<sigh> Specialists here
reckon the only real way to fix it is to get cornea transplants - but
they will only consider it if BOTH eyes are really bad.

Oh well, I can still see well enough to drive and use the PC with my
current lenses, but I dunno for how much longer. The older I get, the
worse it gets...

Oh, that's a bummer!

Well, I hope it progresses slowly. :) That has to be hard havingboth
eyes affected.

My damage is permanent but stable for the moment <touch wood>. I am
always at risk for another bleed, but we are hoping that it won't. You
really take your eyesight for granted until something happens.
