That is good news. I hope the surgery goes well.

Wow, that's terrific!

According to my boss, it was a stressful week... maybe it was for her,
but it was just another week for me because I can take that kind of
stress.

Have had that experience more than once over the years. No pride in
themselves. I used to rent a carpet cleaner, or whatever it took, to
make the premises presentable before I moved out of a place, but a lot
of people don't care, so I know how you feel.....BUT... the good news
is, you OWN this place... and you can clean it and keep it clean to
your standards.. bit of time and elbow grease, but when it's done
......yippee!

Yes, the walk through can be stressful. I wasn't so worried about it,
but after those things were fixed and we'd signed off on them, I had
the worst nightmare of my entire life where I sat up in bed and
screamed "Oh, NO!" because I dreamed I'd overlooked something major
(in the days before buyers insurance). I went right back to sleep as
soon as I figured out it was just a dream, but hubby spent a long time
trying to get back to sleep.

Some people perform better under stress at work - so did I, but this
was some family/personal stuff which I won't bore you with, but it just
got to me.

How's the birthday menu coming along? :)

That's funny -- your hubby probably didn't think so, though! Our poor
husbands put up with so much from us.
The walk-through for the house was done 30 minutes before the closing,
even though I kept asking our slacker real estate agent to do it earlier
that week. He's friends with the former owners and when we did the
walk-through I discovered that they'd been delaying their move until the
last minute and I think he was trying to give them more time.
Since we have to move Monday, we were really stuck into taking the
place as it was left. I shouldn't complain much because it's a great
house, we were lucky to find it, but this morning I'm so sore from all
the cleaning that I'm cranky. Two more days of cleaning! Augh!

Some people don't embarrass easily. When I was an army brat,
my mother taught us you leave the place clean ... and, really, once
the stuff is out, it's not all that hard to clean, really. Next time I
move, my plan is to have it cleaned and painted, etc. before I
move in. Not always possible, I know.

Enjoy your new home, and let your husband off the hook (smile).

In the military, you are required to leave your quarters absolutely
clean. They were inspected and you could not clear the base until
quarters met standards. There were people on base who earned good
money doing the cleaning. They were approved to do the work and they
were responsible.

I remember a couple of times mopping myself out the door.

I'm sure, but my mother is from Japan ... that's how she is ... she
did that everywhere we moved after the military, too.

Aaak. That's not nice. Well, if they said they were going to clean
it and didn't leave it clean... you could have it done professionally
and they would have had to pay for it.

I hate situations like that, because the "other guy" usually gets
screwed.

That will be nice for R. I so miss not having family here - it makes a
HUGE difference.

Oh, awesome! You two will get along well - same kind of people, I
think. :) If I am in the area, I will look you guys up! I go to DC at
least once a year.

I love paprika. Buy it in small quantities but buy the best you can
afford. Hungarian paprika is the best IMO.

Try Spanish Smoked Paprika. It is in a class by itself. Absolutely
wonderful.

Please let us know when you visit the area! It would be great for the three
of us to get together!

Very sorry to hear that. I hope you get some good stuff in your life
in the weeks to come.

Good news: After a week in rehab, Mom took 12 steps in a row. We're
hoping she'll be able to be here for Passover.
