Chris Froome is aiming for a 5th title in Tour de France that will tie the record of winning 5 times -
Jacques Anquetil, Eddy Merckx, Bernard Hinault and Miguel Indurain. Froome will be joined by 175 riders comprising the 22 teams that will ride for 3 weeks. By the way, Froome was cleared of a drug test recently.
After winning the first stage of the tour, Fernando Gaviria gave away the yellow jersey to Peter Sagan. Chris Froome who is aiming for a 5th tour win is behind Sagan by more than 1 minute which was due to the crash in the first stage. Froome's teammate wanted a safe ride for Froome to avoid another crash.
Fernando Gaviria of Colombia reclaimed the yellow jersey when he topped the 4th stage of Tour de France. It was an exciting ending when Gaviria withstood the sprint of Peter Sagan and Andre Greipel in the finish line. Chris Froome who is favored to win his 5th Tour is still in a good position with less than a minute behind the leaders.
Geraint Thomas wins the Tour de France 2018 with teammate Chris Froome who was aiming for a 5th win only placed 3rd. The runner up is Dutch Tom Dumoulin. It is a record by Thomas who is the first Welsh to win the Tour de France.
