Hi everyone.

I'm a big rider, 250lbs, and I often use my touring bike with a lot of luggage (I've been known to ride to work with double pannier bags filled with paper!). I would like to explore better options for brakes.

I'm really curious and wanted to ask your opinion - have any of you ever set up V brakes on a touring bike with drop handlebars and cantilever levers? I know people make a big deal about choosing v-brake levers to go with v-brakes, but what happens if you don't? Also, is it only tradition that keeps the majority of these usually very high quality bikes using cantilevers, or is there something I'm missing?

I know there exists an aero V brake lever (Dia compe 287), but are there any others (preferrably for less money), or has anyone used travel adaptors?.

One other thing - is there anywhere that still sells Magura HS66s? I have read lots of good things about them on the web, but nowhere seems to sell them anymore. The idea of low maintenance brakes is really appealing to me.
