I am taking a cycling trip form Vancouver to San Diego this summer.
I just bought a Cannondale R500 road bike yesterday. I decided against a touring bike because I want to do triathalons when I get back, and so thought it would be wiser to spend the money on a bike I will get more use of in the future. Are panniers maybe too heavy for the road bike, should one use a bob trailer instead? ANy suggestions???

I think the chain stays are to short for decent sized touring panniers on that bike and it doesn't look like you have eyelets for the rack. I'm not sure I would tour with 24 spoke wheels either but you might do OK with the trailer. Think about using a 36 spoke rear wheel....my two cents.

What is the largest size tires can you fit?
What is the lowest gear you have?
    How much do you weigh?
How much will your touring gear weigh?
How many Watts can you generate after a day of riding to get up that last climb?
