  1. Hi all, Thanks to those who gave the information and tips for our First Blencathra trip, a baptism
of fire! Started at Scales in the small laby on the A66 heading for Doddick fell top, the accent of
scales fell was not pleasant due to high winds and spindrift! But in between the gusts and hail
showers we had wall to wall visibility with some fantastic views of the distant fells. Across the
ridge to Blencathra summit then Knowe Crags in a howling gale unable to stand at times (good
cornices forming on the ridge edges) and just for good measure a blizzard. Our rookie in the group
was impressed! Our return was via Blease Fell and Thirkeld. A great trip!
