Just got back tonight from the sunny French Riviera ( 3070 miles round trip by car ).
After spending best part of two weeks in 30 degrees, under brilliant blue cloudless skies we arrived
back to a rainy , windswept Crieff and find that you lot have been playing in the snow !
I stayed just west of Cannes, right in the foothills of the Esteril Mountains and although they are
just 2000 ft at the highest point their are some superb craggy little outcrops of volcanic rock in
deep reds and whites. Lots of forestation but plenty of forest tracks as well. These are indeed
beautiful hills but as it was really too hot to walk I spent most of the time on the beach or in the
cafe's. ( plus it was a family holiday ) Did take a boat trip to Monaco and came out of the famous
Monte Carlo Casino 40 euros up on the day so all was not lost !
Looking forward to this weekend and hopefully a short trip into the snow ! Yippee !
