  1. Just after some ideas of the best trainer to buy. I'm thinking of buying my partner one for christmas, would like to keep it under about 250 pounds if possible, and want something that's quite and built well if possible.
Anyone got one they can recommend - or tips on what I should be looking for?

  2. Kurt Kinetic Road Machine. Before I bought mine I did some research and this one seemed to always come out on top.

Fluid trainers produce the least amount of noise so you should go for one of those.

Riding indoors is torture so I'd be sure your partner really wants to do this else it might not get used a whole lot. You'll also need a big fan and something to put under the bike to stop the sweat from wrecking your floor. Music / TV needs to be readily accessible to combat the mind numbing boredom of riding indoors at intensity. Also a towel for wiping the bike (and the rider) down, a headband (I found this helps control the sweat for awhile but it might need wringing out between intervals) and a water bottle.

And lots of motivation to put up with the suffering.
