  1. I am preparing for the Police and Fire Olympics in 2006. Four cycling events are held: TT, road race, criterium, and a kilo sprint (no start house, out and back with a turn around at a barrel).

I have been riding recreationally for several years but do not consider that I have a strong aerobic base. I would like to participate in 3 of the four events. While the advice is rather generic, I have been using Chris Carmichael's Ultimate Ride as a source of training information.

    Does anyone have suggestions?

    Alex

  2. A few details would be helpful. As to the events, which three are you thinking about entering, what are the dates, what are the distances and what do you know about the courses and the venues (e.g., elevation, avg temp & wind speed at that time of year)? As to you, what kind of bike computer do you have and how many hrs/wk do you have available to train? Do you have any data on your current fitness such as a 40K or 20K TT or max power for different durations or anything else? Can you train through the winter outdoors? If not, do you have a trainer and what kind? Do you have any mass start race experience? Any TT experience?
