Trek 520 - Crankset Issues/Compatibility

I recently acquired a used Trek 520 frame/fork and am trying to decide (or, figure out) what components to use to build the frame. I happen to have Shimano 105 9 speed shifters, cassettes, chain, and hubs and would like to use them, but I do realize that new derailleurs and a new crankset will be necessary.

Not knowing the year of the 520, I suppose my base question is whether a 105 triple with a 118.5 bottom bracket will pose any problems with the chainstays. My concern arises because when I tried a double off another bike with a 109.5 bottom bracket, the large chainring hit the chainstay. So, I suppose the question reduces to whether or not the extra length on the 118.5 spindle will solve the problem. The new 520's come with a 105 triple...I'm just not sure if my frame has the same geometry.

The frame is approximately 4-6 years old, and rear spacing is 135mm.

Any help would be appreciated.
